Comforting patients during surgery

Making the fight against cancer a little easierThe Healthy Alaska Natives Foundation Surgical Services Fund provides support for health and comfort needs of patients undergoing surgery at the Alaska Native Medical Center (ANMC).

From admission to recovery, our fund provides access to educational materials that help patients research more about their conditions, treatments and surgical procedures; provides toys to children who are undergoing the stress of surgery; provides clothes to patients in need, whether due to economic hardship or a situation such as unexpected hospitalization; and funds improvements to Surgical areas of ANMC.

The Fund was created with gifts from the ANMC Surgery Team and a one-to-one matching donation from the Healthy Alaska Natives Foundation. The Fund addresses patient needs identified by the Surgical Services Executive Committee, which is responsible for all oversight associated with providing perioperative patient care at ANMC.

The Foundation’s Surgical Services Fund benefits all surgery patients at ANMC. The ANMC Surgery Team cared for more than 13,200 patients over the past year, from all age groups and every region of Alaska.
