Maternal Child Health celebrates babies and Dr. Seuss

Posted on March 6, 2012 in Events

This week staff from Maternal Child Health, the Healthy Alaska Natives Foundation (HANF) and Volunteer Patient Services hosted a premiere of the Best Beginnings' production “Babies on Track,” a 14-minute video featuring all-Alaska locations and an all-Alaska cast. “Babies on Track” helps parents encourage early learning and brain development via positive and frequent interactions.
Iditarod musher Hugh Neff also stopped by to celebrate the birthday of Dr. Seuss and read to the kids in inpatient pediatrics. Neff is a huge supporter of literacy and advocate for the program Read Across Alaska. This showing was made possible by the support of our Foundation, which supports Best Beginnings, a program designed to ensure that every child in Alaska has the chance to start school ready to succeed. Through HANF’s support, every child under 24-months who signs up for the program gets one book a month until they reach age five.
