Take Flight: Making hospitalization more comfortable for young patients

Making the fight against cancer a little easier

“Take Flight” is a Healthy Alaska Natives Foundation campaign to raise funding for the Alaska Native Medical Center’s Pediatric Unit (Pediatrics (PEDS), Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), which we lovingly call the “kids wing.”

The funds raised are used for basic, critical needs and to help fund efforts that make hospitalization less stressful for children and more comfortable for families so they can stay with their children, some of whom are fighting serious illnesses and may be hospitalized for extended periods of time before they can return to their home villages.

Every year, ANMC Pediatrics cares for more than 1,500 children from all regions of Alaska.

We named the campaign “Take Flight” as a reminder that the majority of ANMC’s pediatric patients travel to Anchorage for treatment on airplanes from small, remote villages. ANMC truly is the caretaker for Alaska’s Native children. With your help, we can make hospitalization less traumatic for them.
