Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library at ANMC

girlsreadingFor six years, the Foundation has been a proud sponsor of the Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library at ANMC, in partnership with Best Beginnings Alaska.

This incredible program provides for the enrollment of all newborns at ANMC in the Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library program, which supports literacy and provides a free book each month until the child is five years old. The cost to the child/family is free.

Dolly Parton started the Imagination Library in 1995 to benefit the children in her home county in East Tennessee with a vision to foster a love of reading among preschool children and their families. The program became so popular that in 2000, it was expanded nation-wide, with over one million children currently enrolled in more than 1600 communities across the country. Best Beginnings Alaska offers the program here in Alaska, as an effort to meet their mission to ensure all Alaska children begin school ready to succeed.

dollyImagination Library at ANMC is administered by the ANMC Auxiliary volunteers, who enrolled over 700 children in the program in 2016, an increase of over 200 children since 2013. Find out how to enroll your child by clicking here.
