The Healthy Alaska Natives Foundation wants to see us go beyond treating those who are sick — we want to keep people out of the hospital in the first place.

Proceeds support our key initiatives, which deliver sustainable, effective and culturally relevant health care to those in need. After all, staying healthy is one of the greatest challenges facing Alaska Native people.

1. Health Care Improvements

Cancer, heart disease, unintentional injuries, suicide, and stroke are the leading causes of death for Alaska Native people.

To keep Alaska Natives healthy in body, mind and spirit, and to avert the high costs of hospital-based care, the foundation builds healthy communities through education, program development and promotion of health-conscious lifestyles.

Diseases such as Hepatitis A, bronchitis, impetigo and meningitis are widespread in rural Alaska, where many villages remain without clean water and sanitation services.
